Borcherds Soup Kitchen

Upon contacting ARMS OF LOVE through our Facebook page, we were introduced to Bernice, a remarkable woman who runs the kitchen with unparalleled strength and determination. During my initial visit, I was amazed to witness Bernice, who has a disabled hand, preparing meals for 200 individuals every day from her tiny makeshift kitchen in a 20-year-old shack lined with cardboard to protect against wind and rain. Witnessing her unwavering commitment to this cause, we knew we had to take action and immediately began planning the construction of a new home with a spacious kitchen to support her efforts.

This feeding centre, is a lifeline for many in the area who would otherwise go hungry. It is open five days a week and serves lunch to those in need. The volunteers who run the center work tirelessly to ensure that everyone who comes through the doors receives a hot, nutritious meal.
The center serves a diverse group of people, including homeless individuals, children from impoverished backgrounds, and families who are struggling to make ends meet. Many of the people who come to the center have experienced hardships such as job loss, illness, or the death of a family member.
Despite the challenges they face, the volunteers at the feeding center are unwavering in their commitment to serving the community.  They work tirelessly to ensure that everyone who comes through the doors is treated with dignity and respect.

The impact of the feeding center on the Borcherds community cannot be overstated.  For many, the center is a beacon of hope in an otherwise bleak landscape. It provides a sense of community and belonging, as well as a source of nourishment.

The feeding center relies on the support of the community to continue its work. Donations of food, money, and volunteer time are always welcome. Anyone who is interested in supporting the center can get in touch with ARMS OF LOVE.

In conclusion, the feeding center in Borcherds is a testament to the power of community and the human spirit. It is a place of hope and healing, where those who are struggling can find a helping hand and a warm meal. The volunteers who run the center are true heroes, and their work is an inspiration to us all.

Alone we can make a small difference,
but together we can change a community.
